American Woodcock is a regular migrant and nesting species in Lycoming County. The species is mostly observed from late February through early June, when woodcocks can be heard and seen at dusk in open areas near brush as they call and perform display flights. They are regularly found at Mill St. in Montoursville and SGL 252, but are probably found commonly throughout the county in suitable habitat.
