Ruffed Grouse

Common year-round and nests. Mostly heard drumming from wooded areas or briefly seen when flushed. The south causeway of Rose Valley Lake is a common spot to hear them. The Williamsport Water Authority is another good location. Ruffed Grouse is the state bird of Pennsylvania.
