Dark-eyed Junco is a species of sparrow that is present year-round in Lycoming County, but much more abundant in winter. In the summer, they nest in high-elevation parts of the county. The 'Slate-colored' subspecies is the only usual variety we get, although there are occasional 'Oregon' records.
